Lance Nations
Gentry High School Graduate – Class of 2000
Coach Nations has proudly worn Maroon since moving to Gentry in 1994. A true Pioneer through and through, Coach Nations was a multi-sport athlete during his time at Gentry High School, earning a four-year starting role in baseball and a three-year starting role in football.
Coach Nations received many accolades while playing, including both All-Conference and All-State honors in both sports for multiple seasons.
After marrying his wife Stacy, Coach Nations began his coaching journey in 2010 when he stepped up to coach his stepdaughter, Taylor. Together, they founded the Legends Fastpitch organization in 2014, which grew to become one of the largest in the state. Under his leadership, the organization helped over 60 student-athletes reach their goal of playing at the collegiate level.
Coach Nations served three years as an assistant coach at Lifeway Christian before returning to his alma mater as Head Coach at Gentry High School for another three seasons. He later joined the NCAA Division II Drury University Panthers in Springfield, Missouri, as an assistant coach.
When his youngest daughter Olivia began playing, Coach Nations returned to the travel ball scene and has led her team for the past eight years. He now enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Lady Pioneers softball team.
Coach Nations lives in Gentry with his wife Stacy and daughter Olivia (Class of 2027).
100% of the time Coach Nations has spent coaching high school softball has been as a full-time volunteer — a commitment made entirely to the athletes, the program, and the school.
In 2024, Coach Nations accepted the role of Arkansas State Director for USSSA Fastpitch. With this new position, he stepped away from the Legends Organization to focus on growing the sport of fastpitch softball across the entire state, working to provide athletes with meaningful opportunities to learn, compete, and grow through the game he loves.
