Sal Castro

Coach Castro, born and raised in Fresno, California, is a dedicated wrestling coach with deep roots in the sport. Growing up wrestling folkstyle and freestyle in California, he earned distinction as a two-time North Yosemite League champion, two-time CIF Central Section placer, and CIF State Qualifier during his high school career at Roosevelt High School, graduating in 2000. Following high school, Coach Castro enlisted and served 20 years of active duty in the U.S. Army, retiring in 2021 and calling Siloam Springs 'home', along with his wife Trisha and their three children.

In 2023, he completed his bachelor’s degree in K-12 Physical Education and earned his coaching certification from the University of Arkansas. That same year, he took on the role of head wrestling coach at Gentry High School. Under his leadership, the program grew from just 2 wrestlers to 20 in its second year, with four athletes placing in the top four at the 4A North Regional Tournament and qualifying for the state tournament—where one wrestler secured a third-place finish.
